My experience with mole removal!

Bit of an unslightly and unexciting post but that’s what moles are to me! Haha

I had a mole on the side of my chin and honestly it’s small but it bothered me so much. We all love a good selfie and when I would move a certain way BAM! There would be the mole. It really affected my confidence so I did what anyone would do, I went to the doctor. He informed that the only option is to make incisions next to the mole in a sort of curved line, which would leave me with a rather large scar (cue horrified expression)

I thought that was it for me. I either have this mole which made me feel like a witch from a Disney movie or I have a large scar on my face.

Enter the wonderful Claire! She owns Integrity skin clinic in Mount Gravatt. Absolutely stunning clinic to walk into. You’re greeted by a friendly face and offered a drink.

Claire informed me that it was actually quite an easy procedure and all we had to do was shave it down with a cauterising tool.

Day of my appointment: I woke up nervous and excited. Was I finally going to be free from this mole on my face? It didn’t feel real.

She brought me into a suite and got me to lie down on the couch then applied some numbing cream and left me to zen out for 25 minutes (absolute bliss when you have 2 young kids!)

When she came back it was showtime. She removed the numbing cream and let me know that it will still pinch a bit. She then got to work and it definitely wasn’t completely numb but it also wasn’t super painful the worst part was the smell, as you can imagine. Burning hair and skin….. yup.

It was over so quickly, she applied some products and I purchased some silicon gel to apply so it healed nicely and to minimise scarring.

I was really nervous at the start of the appointment but Claire set my mind completely at ease.

I wanted to document the healing process as one of the things I couldn’t find much of was the in between phase. I saw lots of before and after photos but I wanted the middle.
